No stress, no drama involved in latest win

 COLUMN: RIDGELAND — There was no reason to stress or worry for the Oxford tennis team Tuesday during its match with Stone County at the Ridgeland Tennis Center.

Rebels shine against No. 6 Georgia

The No. 13 Ole Miss men’s tennis team concluded play at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic Sunday, earning five singles wins against players from No. 6 ranked Georgia. Oxford Chargers begin quest to win fifth straight state title

Oxford’s goal to garner a fifth straight state championship in tennis begins today with a home match against Grenada. OHS coach Louis Nash will try to win the 5A title without the services of four seniors who lead the Chargers to a 116-1 record over the last six years, including four state titles and 11 individual championships. A trip to Hollywood last spring wasn’t enough of a consolation prize for Ole Miss men’s tennis coach Billy Chadwick. The Rebels’ long-time coach may not have been too far from Beverly Hills on May 12, 2011, but a win over UCLA in the second round of last season’s NCAA Tournament would have been worth more than anything located on the famed Rodeo Drive. Chargers capture 5A North Half crown

HERNANDO — It was business as usual for the Oxford Chargers on the tennis courts as they continued their march towards a another Class 5A state championship.

OHS wrapped up its second straight 5A North Half title on Thursday with a 6-1 win over Hernando a year after defeating Ridgeland for the North Half title. The win advanced the Chargers (18-1 overall) to a meeting with the winner of Thursday’s Stone County-Gautier on Monday morning for the 5A state title at the Ridgeland Tennis Center.
