Eighth-grade ‘Dores capture Tri-Lakes title

Adjustments made by a veteran coaching staff and some old-fashioned determination helped lead the Lafayette eighth-grade Commodores to a 30-12 win against Grenada at William L. LMS, OMS split final meeting

The second meeting between Oxford and Lafayette on the gridiron meant a lot more than the earlier showdown. Tuesday’s doubleheader at William L. Buford Stadium not only counted in the team’s overall record, but also towards the Tri-Lakes Confernce standings.

Oxford’s seventh-grade Chargers remained perfect on the year with a 22-6 win over Lafayette, while the Commodores gave the Chargers their first loss of the season in the eighth-grade game with a 14-12 triumph. (October 10, 2012, Page 7)

LMS takes two from Senatobia

The Lafayette Middle School football program had a successful evening Tuesday, sweeping the visiting Senatobia Warriors. OMS defeats ‘Dores in home outing

Oxford’s middle school football doubleheader against Lafayette on Tuesday night at Bobby Holcomb Field started with a great defensive performance and ended with a balanced showing on offense.

The seventh-grade Chargers defeated the Commodores 26-0, while the older Chargers outlasted the Lafayette 28-22 to remain perfect on the season. (September 12, 2012, Page 6)
