Oxford coach Chris Baughman had a big smile on his face following his team’s game with Senatobia at Edwin Moak Field on Thursday afternoon.
Sure he was glad that he and his staff were that much closer to concluding the four-day Spring Break Tournament, but the main reason was because of the success the Chargers had at the plate in an 11-1 win over the Warriors and the continued success of the team as they headed into the start of division play, which begins Tuesday at New Hope. Oxford’s baseball team rebounded from a 13-1 loss to Northwest Rankin Saturday to post a come-from-behind win over Ridgeland. The Chargers’ 5-4 win was aided by several players, including Hunt Halford, who earned the win on the mound in relief of starter Zac Barber. Oxford’s junior varsity football team used a powerful running game and a strong effort on defense to post a 14-0 win over Lafayette Monday night at William L. Buford Stadium. After picking up two first downs and 25 yards on their first offensive drive of the game, the Chargers went on a 14-play, 60-yard scoring drive the second time they had the ball.
