Barber’s focus, talent leads to Player of Year award
A focused approach that started this past summer made Oxford High baseball player Zac Barber the most important player on the field for the Chargers this season.
For a team that had several good high school players on the roster but nobody that was headed to play at the Division I level next season, Barber was able to carry the Chargers to an unexpected 19-12 overall record and a spot in the Class 5A North Half title series. (more…) (June 2, 2011, Page 1B)
Barber named Region 2-5A MVP

Oxford tames Tigers in 5A playoffs
Led by an outstanding pitching performance from senior Zac Barber and some timely hitting early and late, the Oxford Chargers were able to defeat Hernando 6-2 on Saturday afternoon and sweep the Tigers in their second round Class 5A playoff series.
Oxford, which defeated the Tigers 7-5 on Friday night at home, will now take on Neshoba Central in the quarterfinals of the 5A playoffs that begin on Friday night at OHS. (more…) (May 2, 2011, Page 1B)
Oxford rallies to top Tigers in Game 1

Chargers open 5A playoffs with familiar opponent
Oxford’s return to the playoffs will be against a familiar foe in Hernando. The best-of-three series begins Friday evening at 6. Errors stop OHS from claiming title
Two late inning rallies couldn’t overcome the bevy of mistakes made by the Oxford Chargers in their Region 2-5A game with Saltillo on Friday night at Edwin Moak Field. With a win over the Tigers, the Chargers could have wrapped up the No. 1 seed out of the division for the upcoming Class 5A playoffs. Instead of securing that goal, errors and miscues doomed OHS in an 8-7 loss that coach Chris Baughman saw coming before the start of the contest. (April 18, 2011, Page 3B)
Chargers down New Hope in baseball
