Wayne Parks Ward

Mr. Wayne Parks Ward, 81, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at his home in Abbeville. The funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Abbeville with the Rev. Randy Hope, the Rev. Hilton Lane and the Rev. Brad Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 3:30 until 7 p.m. in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home and again prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.

Born in Etta, to the late Orvin Henry and Bama Ree Parks Ward, Mr. Ward was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War while earning the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring from the Air National Guard.  In 1985, his career began in trucking as the owner of WW Enterprises, Inc.  Mr. Ward was an active member of Abbeville Baptist Church and a proud mason.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Roy Ward of Abbeville; two daughters, Cindy Ward Reed and her husband, Dan of Abbeville and Kristy Ward Webb and her husband, Brad of Alexandria, Louisiana; two sons, Don Ward and his wife, Christi of Abbeville and Bob Hickerson and his wife, Eileen of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Kay Potts of Etta; a brother, Pat Ward of New Albany, and ten grandchildren.

In honor of Mr. Ward’s service to his country, the flag of the United States Air Force will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
