Miss-I-Sippin to raise art funds

Make plans to attend Miss-I-Sippin’ on March 25. This fundraiser will feature a variety of beer and food and raises money for  the Powerhouse Community Arts Center and its community programs, summer camps and art grants as well as the University of Mississippi Hospitality Management Program and scholarships.

NMRC clients volunteer all over town

OXFORD LIVING — Being a volunteer takes on special meaning for 20 North Mississippi Regional Center clients. As part of a program that began in 2005, the clients with a variety of developmental disabilities work at numerous volunteer stations throughout Oxford to help make an impact on the community. Art lovers to gather at the Powerhouse; Oxford arts displayed and ‘sampled’ at ‘Interaction’ event

OXFORD TOWN — The Powerhouse is hosting its first annual art sampler called ‘Interaction’ on Saturday at 7 p.m. The event is hosted by Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, Ballet Oxford and the Oxford Songwriters Association. (March 2, 2010, Page 5)

Oxford-Ole Miss Rotary Club

Meets for breakfast from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ole Miss Catering banquet suite located at 123 Heritage Drive. Featured speaker this week will be Wayne Andrews, director of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.  The YAC is responsible for bringing various events and programs to Oxford and Lafayette County. Grant helps YAC promote local artists

The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council has received a $3,000 grant from the Elizabeth Firestone Foundation to promote local artists. The Arts Council aims to create a book that documents artists’ work, studio spaces and galleries. (February 1, 2010, Page 2)
