HPC nixes PVC lattice

If you want to build or alter a house in Oxford’s historic district, don’t use polyvinal cholride lattice. It’s a no-no. Members of the Oxford Historic Preservation Commission told resident Mathias Romkens, owner of a rental property at 1310 Jefferson Ave., on Tuesday that he’ll have to remove the PVC lattice from his property and make additional changes to meet city standards. (August 22, 2014, Page 1)

Square parking meters reviewed

The Courthouse Square Preservation Commission reviewed proposed meters that could be seen around the Square if leaders chose to go with a paid parking system. Commissioners also reviewed new plans from Hotel Oxford and while admitted they were better, tabled the COA approval to allow time for a work session to work out details of the newest design. (January 7, 2014, Page 1)
