A return trip to Jackson to play in the MHSAA’s Class 3A title series was not in the cards for the Water Valley Blue Devils this season. Blue Devils power their way into third round of 3A playoffs
Whoever faces the Water Valley Blue Devils in the next round of the MHSAA Class 3A baseball playoffs take warning: You’re going to need a bigger boat.
Paced by a potent offensive attack, the Blue Devils defeated the Kossuth Aggies 10-8 Friday night at Kossuth and went on to sweep the series Saturday with a 10-3 win at Blue Devil Field to advance to the third round. A week of waiting to find out who the Water Valley Blue Devils would play in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs was answered Monday morning. After deliberations with the MHSAA over the weekend failed to produce an opponent, word came mid-morning that Leflore County would be the No. 3 seed to play the Blue Devils.
