RAY BLOUNT – 38, died Thursday in Abbeville. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home.

SARAH LOIS HENDERSON LLOYD – 96, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. Services will be held at noon Saturday at Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis, with the Rev. Ozine Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Viney Creek Cemetery. Visitation will continue to 6 this evening at Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Sardis, which is in charge of the arrangements.

BIRDIE KITCHENS SLOAN – 96, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Sunshine Health Care Inc. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cherry Creek Baptist Church, with Roger Reeder and Joe Herndon officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday both at the church. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.

RITA C. WEAVER – 88, died this morning at Yalobusha General Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete with Waller Funeral Home. (April 1, 2011, Page 2A)

GRADY “PETE” MATHIS BROWNING JR. – 73, died Satuday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at North Oxford Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in North Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home and again prior to the service from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.

LILLIE “SEAL” CROWLEY – 53, caregiver, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at her residence in Oxford. Visitation will be today from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at East St. Peter’s M.B. Church in Abbeville with the Rev. William Woods officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

LUKE “TODDY” CLIFTON LEE HYLAND – 64, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, in Batesville. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Tutor Memorial with the Rev. Joey Swords officiating. Burial followed at County Line Baptist Church in Pontotoc. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of the arrangements.

MICHAEL CARL LADD – 53, of Como, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at his home. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m. at Davis Chapel United Methodist Church in Sardis with the Rev. Dayna Goff officiating. Interment followed in Davis Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Home of Batesville.

NANCY BRACKEN LOVE — 65, of Madison died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at St. Dominic‘s Hospital. Funeral services were held at Grace Episcopal Church on East Peace Street in Canton today. Burial and a graveside service will be held at a later date in Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Md. Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland is assisting with arrangements.

MARGARET ANN RUSSELL PARTRIDGE – 76,, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Semmes officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon until 2 p.m. at the church. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM DAVID “SPRAD” SPRADLIN – 59, of Pendleton, Ind. and formerly of Gilboa, Ind. died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Meadowbrooke Rehabilitation in Anderson, Ind. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home in Leipsic with Pastor Tad Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Harman Cemetery in Gilboa with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service on Tuesday.

JUANITA “NOUNCE” VAUGHN – 67, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at her residence in Oxford. Funeral service arrangements will be announced later by Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home.

CHRISTOPHER T. WOODARD – 31, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Waterford. Funeral services were held Dec. 31, 2010, at Holly Springs Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Bell officiating. Burial followed at Anchor Baptist Cemetery. (January 3, 2011, Page 2)

IRENE TIDWELL BURKE – 97, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Chet Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.

BETTIE BUSBY – 71, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Plantersville. Services were held Monday at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc, with Brother Ricky Pierce and Brother Jed Daniels officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.

JACOB PRICE JR. – 54, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at his residence in Oxford. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building with the Rev. Alice Blackmon officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

WILLIAM TRAVIS “BILLY” RUTLEDGE – 88, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at his home in Oxford. Services were held at 1 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville, with Bro. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial was to follow in Booneville Cemetery.

HATTIE MAE SNEED – 88, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Union Church of the Nazarene in the Hurricane Community, with the Rev. Joe Morse and the Rev. Cecil Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Nazarene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 this evening at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc and Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. (September 21, 2010, Page 2)

• Delmer Lamar (Did) Fortner – 74, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his residence in Oxford.  Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Springhill Methodist Church. Burial followed at the Springhill Methodist Church Cemetary. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

• Ruth Tolson Kelly – 85, retired elementary school teacher, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Funeral services were this morning at College Hill Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Alan Cochet officiating. Burial followed at College Hill Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

• Frances Irene Maples – 90, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coleman Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Russell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oxford Memorial Cemetary. Visition will be Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home.

• Sarah Payton – 76, died, April 16, 2010, at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. Funeral services are incomplete with Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home.

John Michael Tiller – 57, of Water Valley died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley with Dr. Randy Bain presiding. Tiller’s Sunday school teacher, Tommy White, will share some closing remarks. (April 19, 2010, Page 2A)
