Rebels stay hot at the plate in win over SLU
Even without sluggers Matt Smith and Matt Snyder, the No. 17 Ole Miss baseball team was able to score double-digit runs for the second-straight night on Wednesday, knocking off the Saint Louis Billikens 14-5 at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 25, 2010, Page 6)
Rebels tame Golden Lions 17-1
Just under one year ago, the Ole Miss baseball team routed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 22-2. On Tuesday, the Golden Lions didn’t fare much better, falling to No. 20 Ole Miss 17-1 at Oxford-University Stadium.
The Rebels mounted a five-run first inning on three hits and one error and cruised the rest of the way.
“It’s hard to say that we could have played much better tonight,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said. “We swung, we played defense, we pitched well, so it was a good, solid game.”
Right fielder Taylor Hashman led the offensive charge, tallying an Ole Miss record six runs scored. (March 16, 2010, Page 6A)
Rebels overcome errors in win, again
One night after Ole Miss committed a season-high four errors, the fielding didn’t exactly improve. But once again, the No. 18 Rebels were able to overcome two errors to defeat the Austin Peay Governors 10-4 to sweep the two-game midweek series at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 11, 2010, Page 6A)
Green Wave avoids sweep from Rebels
NEW ORLEANS — The baseball gods were not kind to Ole Miss on Sunday. Or they were wearing green shirts and were sympathetic to Tulane’s previous two losses. Either way, they made sure there was no doubt which team would win the series finale at Turchin Stadium.
In Sunday’s 12-4 win over No. 21 Ole Miss, Tulane was able to get hits by the bushel, tallying 20 total hits — 18 of which were singles — and chased Rebels starter Trent Rothlin after 3.2 innings of work. (March 8, 2010, Page 6a)
Rebs fail to claim sweep
NEW ORLEANS — Tulane was a hitting-machine today. In its 12-4 win, Tulane was able to collect 20 hits and really took advantage of Ole Miss’ pitchers.
Ole Miss starting pitcher Trent Rothlin was tagged with the loss, surrendering six runs runs in 3.2 innings.
Ole Miss (9-2 overall) will return to the diamond to face Austin Peay in a two-game midweek series beginning Tuesday at Oxford-University Stadium. Rory McKean is scheduled to start for the Rebels. (March 7, 2010)
Rebels take first two at Tulane
NEW ORLEANS — Hitting the road for the first time can always be an experience to say the least, and the Ole Miss baseball team’s first road trip is no exception. On Friday, the Rebels were able to hold on after surrendering a three-run eighth inning to defeat the Tulane Green Wave 6-4. Saturday, the Rebels never had a big inning, but were able to earn a convincing 5-1 victory.

Rebels face first road test at Tulane
The No. 21 Ole Miss baseball team travels to New Orleans this weekend to play Tulane in a three-game series. The series begins tonight at 6:30 and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. It’s the first set of games away from Oxford for the 7-1 Rebels and coach Mike Bianco said the experience should only help his team going forward into SEC play. Yarbrough helps lead Rebels past Tigers
OLE MISS BASEBALL — At times during Ole Miss’ first seven games, freshman infielder Alex Yarbrough seemed like he couldn’t buy a hit. On Tuesday, Yarbrough looked like a seasoned veteran during No. 21 Ole Miss’ 7-2 victory against the Memphis Tigers at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 3, 2010, Page 8)
No. 24 Rebels get defensive in wins
OLE MISS BASEBALL — Ole Miss may have plated 28 runs this weekend, but the number that made coach Mike Bianco most proud was one — the number of errors the No. 24 Rebels committed in their three-game sweep of the Oakland (Mich.) Golden Grizzlies at Oxford-University Stadium. In three games, the Rebels knocked off Oakland 9-1, 10-2 and 9-3. (March 1, 2010, Page 8)
Diamond Rebs set to host Oakland
It’s tough jumping into the fire with both feet. This weekend the Oakland Golden Grizzlies will be doing just that when they take on No. 24 Ole Miss in a three-game series at Oxford-University Stadium. (February 26, 2010, Page 8A)
