Defer’s career game leads WVHS to Senior Night win

WATER VALLEY — Skyler Defer scored, dunked, bled and even lost some of the food he ate earlier in the day. Water Valley’s senor guard did whatever it took to go out a winner in his final home game. Defer accounted for nearly half of the Blue Devils’ offense, dropping a career-high 40 points to help Water Valley overcome a furious second-half rally by M.S. Water Valley sweeps Pope

Water Valley swept Pope Middle School on the hardwood on Monday, with the seventh-grade boys winning 17-9, the seventh-grade girls winning 13-11 and the eighth-grade boys claiming an 11-9 victory.

Keauana Sarrow and Tierra Turner led the seventh-grade girls with seven and six points respectively. In the seventh-grade boys game, Cooper Clements and Makedrius Gooch had team-highs with seven and five points respectively, while Skyler Defer led the eighth-grade squad with four points.
