Rebels get spring drills rolling

As the Ole Miss Rebel football team took the practice field for their first spring practice, Coach Hugh Freeze knew his team wouldn’t be perfect, but requested during the team meeting that they show maximum effort and attitude for all 15 days.

Rebels show pro, cons in first scrimmage

Saturday’s scrimmage at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium provided a mixed bag of results for the Ole Miss coaching staff to build on.

There was the good: Randall Mackey showed consistency passing the ball, the defense provided a constant presence in the offensive backfield, the tight ends looked like reliable targets, head coach Houston Nutt said he liked the attitudes he saw from the defense and incumbent kicker Bryson Rose connected on all four field goals from 40 yards and beyond. Nutt holds off on QB decision

The announcement everyone has been waiting for will take at least another couple of days.

Following Ole Miss’ practice on Tuesday head coach Houston Nutt said that while he knows who will be getting the nod at quarterback, an extenuating circumstance is preventing him from clarifying publically who will be getting the bulk of the snaps under center. (August 25, 2010, Page 8)
