Tee Shepard

Rebels’ backup QB battle rages on

A quarterback battle is still brewing at Ole Miss, though it has nothing to do with the starter. Bo Wallace will operate the controls of the Rebels’ offense for the third straight season. Who would be first off the bench to spare the senior in a blowout or should he get injured is still a mystery. Redshirt freshmen Ryan Buchanan and DeVante Kincade continue to duke it out for the backup job. With less than two weeks before the season opener Aug. 28 against Boise State in Atlanta, the race is far from being settled. (August 18, 2014, Page 6)

NOTEBOOK: Shepard’s return to field ‘doesn’t look promising’

The update on cornerback Tee Shepard isn’t good for Ole Miss. Shepard, one of the Rebels’ top newcomers, hasn’t practiced since Friday and may end up missing the entire season with a partially torn tendon under his big toe. The sophomore, who had been running with the first team at times during camp, suffered the injury late last week, and the coaching staff is in the process of getting second and third opinions from doctors before deciding what course of action to take. (August 14, 2014, Page 8)

Ole Miss resumes camp with indoor practice

After a day of rest, the Ole Miss football team resumed fall camp with a practice inside the Manning Center Monday. The practice essentially marked the midway point of fall camp, and head coach Hugh Freeze was pleased with what he has seen up to this point as a whole and is hopeful his team can carry that into the season opener against Boise Sate. (August 12, 2014, Page 8)

Rebel D dominates weekend practice

Ole Miss’ football team held its only open practice of fall camp inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Saturday morning. It was a day headlined by the defense. (August 11, 2014, Page 6)

Rebels’ newcomers make good impression

Ole Miss has built enough depth to where it doesn’t need its freshmen to come in and play immediately. The talent, though, of the entire incoming class may leave the coaches with no other choice. (August 5, 2014, Page 6)

Rebels open camp with improved depth, talent

Ole Miss’ football team is switching things up early in fall camp. The Rebels hit the practice field for the first time Saturday morning in preparation for the upcoming season, and for the first time in head coach Hugh Freeze’s tenure, the freshmen and the upperclassmen have spent some time practicing separately thanks to restocked roster. (August 4, 2014, Page 6)

NOTEBOOK: ‘Everyone’s eligible’ for Rebels

Some of Ole Miss’ football players won’t play a down this season, but it won’t be because they didn’t make the grades. For the first time in his three-year tenure, coach Hugh Freeze announced the Rebels won’t suffer from an academic casualty. Players reported to campus on Friday — the first day before the start of fall camp — and everyone’s ready to go. (August 4, 2014, Page 6)
