WVHS Blue Devils roll through to Round 2

A week of waiting to find out who the Water Valley Blue Devils would play in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs was answered Monday morning. After deliberations with the MHSAA over the weekend failed to produce an opponent, word came mid-morning that Leflore County would be the No. 3 seed to play the Blue Devils. Blue Devils fall to S. Pontotoc

A late rally wasn’t enough to lift the Water Valley Blue Devils to a win over South Pontotoc on Tuesday night. WVHS fell 8-7 despite three hits each from Taylor King, John Michael Grimmett and J.D. Fondon. One of King’s hits was his eighth home run. Water Valley will be back in action Friday at Mooreville. (April 13, 2011, Page 10)

Blue Devils pound their way to win

An opportunity to defend their Class 3A North Half title is what the Water Valley Blue Devils earned on Friday with their 13-2 win over South Pontotoc at Blue Devil Field. Paced by an offense that collected three home runs and 11 hits total in five innings, WVHS secured a spot in the upcoming 3A playoffs with the one-sided win over the Cougars. Blue Devils’ offense, errors doom Chargers

Errors ended up preventing the Oxford Chargers from earning a clean sweep in a baseball twinbill at W.V. Brewer Field on Saturday afternoon. LHS takes down Devils

Lafayette coach Greg Lewis knew his Commodores didn’t play their best against Oxford to start Saturday’s baseball fest at W.V. Brewer Field. Instead of changing the lineup drastically against Water Valley on Saturday night, Lewis decided to let his team work itself back into normal form.

The end result was a much better approach at the plate in a 15-5 win over the Blue Devils in five innings. (April 4, 2011, Page 7A)

Water Valley’s rally falls short

The Blue Devils looked like they were going to fall victim to the dreaded run rule Thursday evening against DeSoto Central.

Instead, it was a built-in time limit that eventually cut Water Valley’s monster rally just short as the Blue Devils fell to the Jaguars 11-10 after four innings at Edwin Moak Field on the final day of the annual Oxford Spring Break Tournament. (more…) (March 18, 2011, Page 8A)

Bulldogs’ Beaty baffles Blue Devils

Getting hits and scoring runs hasn’t been too much of a problem for the Water Valley Blue Devil baseball team so far this season.
