2-4A tourney loss caps winless season for ‘Dores

As forgettable a season as it’s been for the Lafayette High boys basketball team, the Commodores just needed one win to extend their season. But their Division 2-5A tournament opener ended just like all the others. Lafayette’s season came to an end Wednesday with a 57-50 loss to New Albany at the Lafayette High gym. It was the 14th time the Commodores (0-14) took the court, and it was the 14th time they came up on the short end of the scoreboard. (February 19, 2015, Page 6A)

Commodores blast Houston in playoff opener

Lafayette’s game against Houston on Friday night quickly turned into a tuneup for its next opponent in the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs. The Commodores rushed for 386 yards, kept Houston’s offense from doing much of anything and cruised to their sixth straight win with a 41-16 victory over the Hilltoppers at William L. ‘Dores dominate Byhalia; finish region play undefeated

BYHALIA — Lafayette coach Eric Robertson did not want a repeat performance of the New Albany game when his team traveled to Byhalia on Friday night. He got just the opposite, as the Commodores’ quest to go undefeated in Region 2-4A play was completed with relative ease when Lafayette (7-4, 5-0 Region 2-4A) dominated the Indians (0-10, 0-5) 41-0 on Halloween night. (November 2, 2014, Page 5B)

Commodores secure region title with 27-0 win

For the Lafayette Commodores, it’s not about how you start but how you finish. They are finishing strong and Friday, in front of the home crowd on Senior Night, the Commodores (6-4 overall, 4-0 Region 2-4A) shut out Senatobia (6-3, 2-2) 27-0 to clinch their first 2-4A title since the 2011 season, the last time they won the MHSAA state championship (October 26, 2014, Page 5B)

Offense paces ‘Dores in 35-0 win over Shannon

Corinth rallies to top Commodores 17-14

For the first time since 2008, the Lafayette Commodores have opened their season with back-to-back losses. Nine penalties, three turnovers, and two missed field goals doomed Lafayette in a tight contest as a 23-yard field goal from Jake Curtis with 31 seconds remaining clinched a 17-14 win for Corinth on Friday night at William L.
