DELAND, Fla. — Preston Overbey hit a pair of home runs, while Sam Smith anchored another solid outing from the Ole Miss pitching staff Sunday. The day-long cloud that hovered over Oxford has lifted and it appears No. 21 Mississippi State and Ole Miss will kick off their three-game series at Oxford-University Stadium on time tonight at 6:30. Mother Nature pulled a fast one Friday.Oxford’s day-long cloud coverage cleared just long enough for No. 21 Mississippi State and Ole Miss to record three outs at Oxford-University Stadium before the sky opened again with a heavy rain. Due to the precipitation, Game 1 between the Bulldogs and Rebels was suspended until Saturday. VDEO BLOG: No. 23 Ole Miss found its scoring touch this weekend with the visiting Alabama Crimson Tide at Oxford-University Stadium. After scoring nine total runs during their six-game skid, the Rebels plated 11 in two games against the Tide.

BLOG: Sometimes plans change. During Thursday’s practice at the Indoor Practice Facility, the No. 17 Rebels maintained that they weren’t going to overreact to back-to-back SEC losses with No. 2 Vanderbilt in town.
While the Rebels’ general approach may not be altered this weekend, their lineup will be.
