LHS focused on Round 2 matchup

Focus is a word that has been used by both Lafayette coach Anthony Hart and his players this week when talking about the Greenwood Bulldogs. The No. 1 Commodores host the Bulldogs, a team they defeated 42-0 in the second game of the season, Friday night at William L. Buford Stadium in the second round of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.

Hart said he started to get an idea that the Bulldogs had improved since the two teams played when he started talking about the playoff scenarios with his team. (November 10, 2011, Page 6)

Leake Central no match for Commodores

Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen’s arrival to Friday night’s game at William L. Buford Stadium via helicopter wasn’t enough to distract the No. 1 Lafayette Commodores from their mission of winning in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

Playing more like a junior college football team rather than one composed of a bunch of 15-, 16- and 17-year-old kids, the Commodores had no trouble dispatching the Leake Central Gators 46-7. (more…) (November 7, 2011, Page 3B)

Lafayette JV football tops Grenada
