North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic reloads

OXFORD TOWN – Finally. One of Mississippi’s favorite festivals kicks off tomorrow (June 29) at a brand new venue — Betty Davis BBQ – and the lineup is loaded as usual. Shannon comes ‘Home’ this Friday

OXFORD TOWN – Any true North Mississippian can identify the silhouette of Shannon McNally from, at least, a mile away. McNally and her band, Hot Sauce, are set for a show at Proud Larry’s on Friday, Dec. 30, as they help ring in 2012 with their fiery Americana and folk originals. Also at Larry’s, on Saturday, the popular venue plays host to Dent May, Flight, ILLS and Star Child for a Cats Purring New Year’s Eve jam. OXFORD TOWN – Thacker Mountain Radio returns to Off Square Books tonight (Oct. 6) at 6 to welcome Oxford’s newest writer (Josh Weil) as well as two young bands, one playing tunes from the past (The Side Street Steppers), the other, playing music from the now (Dead Gaze). Get Revived! The Oxford Rhythm Revival returns this weekend

OXFORD TOWN – Gear up for one of the coolest “revivals” in the region as the 2011 version of the Oxford Rhythm Revival cranks up around the Oxford Square this Saturday (June 18). Mississippi native Lynn Drury, Memphis legend rocker Keith Sykes, Shannon McNally, fiddle prodigy Ruby Jane (pictured), Gina Sexton, Marlena Jarjoura and Taylor Hildebrand are just of few of the names that will keep Oxford jumping this Saturday night. The fun begins on Saturday morning on the Courthouse lawn and continues until the last note is played at Proud Larry’s, Rooster’s Blues House and Soulshine Pizza at midnight. Shannon’s back

OXFORD TOWN – Shannon McNally has surrounded herself with band members that she considers “family” – and one of them actually is; her husband, drummer Wallace Lester. The band’s latest album “Coldwater” was recently released and they have hit the road in a big way to support it. One stop of that tour is next week at Proud Larry’s on March 11.
