Hancock Co. to rock Rooster’s Blues House for free show Dec. 17

OXFORD TOWN – As most community activities slow to a crawl (or stop completely) at this time of the year in Lafayette County — the rock solid, ever-consistent Rooster’s Blues House and owner Scott Michael keep the intensity hot and its doors open even without the majority of Ole Miss students in town to pack the popular venue. Hancock Co. (pictured here) is scheduled to return to the Rooster’s stage this Saturday night (Dec. 17) after Cadillac Funk rocks the rafters on Friday — shows organized with Oxonians, not students, in mind. Turn to Page 4 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town and check out our Community Calendar to see this and other listings for the upcoming weekend into next week. (December 15, 2011, Page 4)

Rooster’s rolls on through holiday weekend

OXFORD TOWN – What holiday? Bluesman Blind Mississippi Morris (pictured) returns to Rooster’s Blues House on Friday, Nov. 25, as Rooster’s owner Scott Michael keeps the heat on and the music screaming this holiday season while many other venues choose to close their doors. On Thanksgiving night, Kenny Brown is set to take the Rooster’s upstairs stage. Even with area venue closings this weekend, Oxford Town’s community calendar on Page 4 is still chock full of great listings like this one. Check it out by downloading Oxford Town issue No. 954. (November 23, 2011, Page 4)

Rooster’s hosts Mississippi Cadillac Blues Band this Saturday

OXFORD TOWN  – Producer/musician Bud Bays (pictured) and his latest project, Mississippi Cadillac Blues Band, are set for a live performance at Rooster’s Blues House this Saturday (May 14) for a rare afternoon/evening jam session on the historic Oxford Square. “Cadillac” is touring in support of its new CD “Stone Cold.” Page 5 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town features an intimate interview with Bays by Oxford Town Editor Jeff McVay. (May 12, 2011, Page 5)

Rooster’s Blues House rocks through the holidays

OXFORD TOWN – Ole Miss’ annual mass exodus went off without a hitch last week but Rooster’s Blues House rocks on without missing a beat. Page 5 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town has information about the popular blues venue and owner Scott Michael’s (pictured) plan for keeping the holiday season festive for Oxford locals. (December 22, 2010, Page 5)
