Oxford teams shine in Division 2-5A meet
Led by outstanding individual efforts from Sam Kendricks, Justin Fondren and Kristen Dickerson, the Oxford boys and girls track teams easily won the Division 2-5A meet at Oxford’s Bobby Holcomb Field on Saturday.
The Chargers totaled 150 points, 112 more than second-place finisher West Point. New Hope was third in the boys meet with 31 points, while Saltillo finished fourth with 23. The Lady Chargers finished with 133 points, more than double second-place finisher New Hope with 66. Saltillo was third with 24, while West Point was fourth with 16. (April 25, 2011, Page 1B)
Kendricks has high expectations for squad
Saturday’s weather forecast of sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 60s was a pleasing one for Scott Kendricks. The long-time Oxford High track coach has been waiting for the weather to clear and get warmer so that his team, and the defending Class 5A state champion Lady Chargers coached by Jamie Perkins, can get out and show what they can do. Oxford teams finish third at state meet
A strong finish to the season in the Class 5A state meet helped lift the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers to third-place finishes Saturday at MHSAA Cross Country Championships held at Mississippi College’s Choctaw Trails.
Five overall athletes earned All-State recognition for Oxford, including Callie Mayo, Emily Hankins and Audrey Dayan for the Lady Chargers and Lucian Duchaine and Fisher Austin for the Chargers. (November 8, 2010, Page 3B)
Oxford teams take home second place in division
Oxford’s final cross country meet before the MHSAA State Championships produced two second-place finishes for the Chargers and Lady Chargers in the Division 1-5A meet held in Saltillo Saturday.

Kendricks proud of OHS’ showing at Invitational
Saturday’s Corinth Invitational proved to be more than successful for the Oxford High cross country team as not only did the junior varsity boys place first and the girls place third out of seven teams, but the varsity boys came in fourth while the girls came in sixth out of 19 teams. Oxford track teams ready for 5A North Half
Oxford’s girls and boys track teams are both looking to capture their first Class 5A North Half title Saturday at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers and Lady Chargers have dominated their competition in both the district and region meets leading up to North Half and coach Scott Kendricks said his teams are prepared for the meet, which is the final opportunity for athletes to qualify for the next week’s 5A state meet. Oxford track teams capture titles Monday
Two more all-around performances led to two more titles for the Oxford girls and boys track teams Monday at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers won the Region 1-5A meet by scoring 200 points, 83.5 points more than second-place finisher Indianola-Gentry. The Lady Chargers totaled 191.5 points, the most ever in a region meet, a figure that clearly outdistanced Gentry. (May 4, 2010, Page 8)
Chargers, Lady Chargers place first in 2-5A meet
Oxford’s final push towards the Class 5A state track meet got off to a great start Thursday as both the girls and boys teams won the District 2-5A titles at Bobby Holcomb Field.
The Chargers totaled 135 points, almost 100 points more than second-place finisher West Point, to win their title while the Lady Chargers totaled 109 points. New Hope finished second in that portion of the meet with 54 points. Rounding out the girls scores were Saltillo (52) and West Point. Saltillo was third in the boys portion with 45 points, while New Hope totaled 19 points. The top four finishers in each event advance to the regional meet on May 1. (April 23, 2010, Page 7A)
