Knight makes No. 8 Rebs walk-off winners

BLOG: Game 1 wasn’t the prettiest performance of the season for No. 8 Ole Miss.

Despite walking seven, and allowing two more Rhode Island batters to reach base via a HBP and an error, the Rebels rolled to an 8-1 victory Friday.

Today, the Rebels will look for the series with a 1:30 p.m. start at Oxford-University Stadium. (more…) (February 23, 2013)

Older Overbey debuts at second base

Tuesday was a night of firsts for a lot of young Ole Miss Rebels.

With Tuesday’s 15-2 rout of UT-Martin well in hand,  No. 8 Ole Miss proceeded to have a hockey-like line change that started in the early innings and continued throughout the game. (more…) (February 21, 2013, Page 9)

Weathersby just happy for opportunity

Scott Weathersby’s debut on Sunday wasn’t exactly how he imagined it to be.

But, to be honest, the redshirt sophomore really didn’t care what the situation was. (more…) (February 19, 2013, Page 8)

No. 4 LSU blasts No. 24 Rebels to win series

It appears the Rebels aren’t done searching for a Sunday starter.

After splitting the first two games against No. 4 LSU, the No. 24 Rebels turned to a new starter Sunday for the third consecutive week.

Not only did Dylan Chavez get run from the game prematurely, but Ole Miss struggled to find any pitcher who could consistently put up zeros during the 12-3 loss at Oxford-University Stadium. (May 7, 2012, Page 6)

No. 24 Rebels wash away Murray State

It was far from pretty, but the No. 24 Rebels came away from Wednesday’s non-conference game with a lopsided win.

Following a delay due to scattered rain showers that soaked the playing field, Ole Miss pounded out 12 hits en route to an 11-5 victory over Murray State at Oxford-University Stadium. (more…) (May 3, 2012, Page 6)

Yarbrough sees hitting streak halted Sunday

STARKVILLE—Alex Yarbrough saw his hitting streak come to an end at 22 games Sunday following an 0-for-4 performance against the Bulldogs at Dudy Noble Field.

The Rebel second baseman struck out, grounded out to the pitcher and flew out to center field against MSU starter Luis Pollorena before flying out to right against closer Caleb Reed in the eighth. (April 30, 2012, Page 7)

Hively helps No. 18 Rebs top MSU 6-2

Arkansas strikes back to take finale

The No. 22 Ole Miss Rebels set out Sunday looking to carry over their momentum from the previous two days and in doing so claim a series sweep over No. 17 Arkansas at Oxford-University Stadium.

Instead, the Razorbacks jumped on Ole Miss early en route to an 11-3 victory. (April 23, 2012, Page 1B)

No. 17 Hogs avoid sweep, win 11-3

First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Cox Sports. (more…) (April 22, 2012)

No. 18 Rebs hoping Wahl’s arm comes alive at Georgia

By his own admission, Ole Miss starter Bobby Wahl just didn’t have his stuff last Friday at Kentucky.

The right-handed ace was very un-Wahl-like, walking four in four innings against the Wildcats, and said he felt like he had a “dead arm” while warming up in the bullpen.

After four innings he was pulled in favor of relief pitcher Aaron Greenwood. (April 12, 2012, Page 6)
