Oxford’s Kendricks wins UK Invitational

Oxford High standout pole vaulter Sam Kendricks continued to shine during the indoor season over the weekend by winning the University of Kentucky High School Invitational with a leap of 15 feet, 6 inches.

Kendricks’ latest performance landed him No. 17 in the nation according to dyestate.com. The mark sets a new record in the state of Mississippi from an indoor standpoint. According to OHS coach Scott Kendricks, the competition came to an exciting climax when Sam cleared the 15-6 attempt and another vaulter, Nikita Kirillov failed to clear the height. Oxford’s Kendricks sets record at LSU

Oxford High track standout Sam Kendricks set a new OHS indoor pole vault record of 14 feet, 6 inches at the the LSU High School Indoor Invitational Saturday. The previous record was shared both by Joseph Stevens and Kelly Drewery. Kendricks finished third overall in the competition against the most elite vaulters in the nation and he is currently ranked 19th in the nation for all vaulters. Fondren, Kendricks place at Challenge
