LSU shuts down Rebels, advances to take SEC Title

One day after defeating the powerful Auburn Tigers 10-7 in 10 innings, the Ole Miss Rebels were bounced from the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament courtesy of an 8-0 loss to the eventual champion LSU Tigers.

In Ole Miss’ lopsided loss to the Tigers at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., the Rebels were only able to collect one run and two walks. (June 1, 2010, Page 2B)

Day 4: Ole Miss-LSU Game Blog

Hoover, Ala. — On Friday, the Ole Miss Rebels were able to exorcise a few demons with a 10-7 victory over the Auburn Tigers. Today, the LSU Tigers will get the same chance after being swept during the regular season. For the second day in a row rain has pushed back Ole Miss’ game, but as of right now we’re looking at an 11 a.m. start time. Day 2: Alabama-Ole Miss Game Blog

HOOVER, Ala. — Live from Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., for Day 2 of the Southeastern Conference’s SEC Tournament. Game 7 pits Ole Miss (37-20 overall) and Alabama (35-21). Bianco wins 500th game as head coach

Mike Bianco picked up his 500th career win as a head coach and his 400th at the helm of the Ole Miss baseball program as the No. 15 Rebels defeated Arkansas State 5-2 on Wednesday night.

The win closed out the non-conference schedule for the Rebels (35-15 overall). Ole Miss went 20-6 outside of league play this season. (May 13, 2010, Page 1B)

Rebels win slug-fest in Game 1 vs. LSU

Game 1 of the Ole Miss-LSU baseball series had been billed as the must-see pitching matchup of the year. What it turned out to be, however, was a slug-fest.

Rebels stay hot at the plate in win over SLU

Even without sluggers Matt Smith and Matt Snyder, the No. 17 Ole Miss baseball team was able to score double-digit runs for the second-straight night on Wednesday, knocking off the Saint Louis Billikens 14-5 at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 25, 2010, Page 6)

Rebels tame Golden Lions 17-1

Just under one year ago, the Ole Miss baseball team routed Arkansas-Pine Bluff 22-2. On Tuesday, the Golden Lions didn’t fare much better, falling to No. 20 Ole Miss 17-1 at Oxford-University Stadium.

The Rebels mounted a five-run first inning on three hits and one error and cruised the rest of the way.

“It’s hard to say that we could have played much better tonight,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said. “We swung, we played defense, we pitched well, so it was a good, solid game.”

Right fielder Taylor Hashman led the offensive charge, tallying an Ole Miss record six runs scored. (March 16, 2010, Page 6A)

McKean to take mound for Rebels

No. 21 Ole Miss will return to action tonight at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Rory McKean will make his second start on the mound for the Rebels, who will then travel to play No. 26 Kentucky to open Southeastern Conference play. (March 16, 2010, Page 6A)
