Oxford swim teams each place third at Class 2 state meet

Oxford sends 20 to MHSAA state swimming meet
Twenty swimmers from Oxford High advanced to next month’s MHSAA state meet thanks to earning qualifying scores in the 5A-6A North Half state meet this past Saturday in Starkville. There were 41 swimmers who competed in Starkville. The Lady Chargers tied for second with 86 points, while the Chargers garnered 63 points to finish third. (more…) (October 22, 2012, Page 3B)
Chargers, Lady Chargers shine at meet
Oxford High’s swim teams got off to a successful start as both won first place at the DeSoto County Swim Meet Saturday. The Chargers and Lady Chargers combined to score 298 points, over 130 points more than second-place finisher Lewisburg with 162. Hernando (148), DeSoto Central (129) and Amory (87) rounded out the top five. A total of 11 schools competed in the meet.
The Chargers totaled 160 points, while the Lady Chargers with 138 points. Both squads had several first-place finishers. (September 17, 2012, Page 3B)
Lady Chargers claim North Half title
The Oxford High swim team didn’t fool around this past weekend at the North Half Swim Meet hosted by Clinton High, as the Lady Chargers placed first with 328 points and the Chargers placed fourth with 202 points.
Rounding out the top four spots in the girls rankings were Madison Central (255), Tupelo (254) and St. Joseph Catholic (222). On the boys’ side, Tupelo placed first with 446 points, followed by Madison Central (299.5) and St. Joseph Catholic (208). (October 19, 2010, Page 9)
