Ole Miss powers its way past Grambling

Ole Miss’ athleticism, depth and energy level has helped them win its first two basketball games of the season.

Unfortunately for the Rebels, and more specifically coach Andy Kennedy, long-range shooting and the overall offense hasn’t been nearly as good as the scores may suggest. (more…) (November 15, 2011, Page 6)

Rebs win despite second half shooting woes

The Ole Miss men’s basketball team didn’t miss Chris Warren’s scoring at all in the first half of the Rebels’ 60-38 win over Louisiana-Monroe at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum on Friday night.

Warren’s shot making was definitely missed in the second half of the season opener, though. (more…) (November 14, 2011, Page 4B)

Ole Miss picks up guard from Memphis

Memphis has been a productive city for the Ole Miss men’s basketball program to recruit over the last few seasons. The relationships that coach Andy Kennedy has built with the signings of Terrico White and Reginald Buckner, and the transfer of Jelan Kendrick, have given Memphis prep products a lot of exposure to the Rebels. Graham shines in Rebels’ rout of AU

All season long Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy has been searching for at least one player to match the scoring ability of senior standout Chris Warren. A better Buckner translates to more Ws

Ole Miss’ success on the basketball court this past week happened for several different reasons including the improved play of sophomore forward Reginald Buckner.

Buckner’s shot-blocking ability was a great strength for the Memphis native even before he helped lead the Rebels to an upset win of then No. 10 Kentucky and Arkansas last week, but his ability to add points, rebounds and minutes to his resume ended up making a huge difference for the Rebels in those two wins.

Against Arkansas, Buckner blocked eight shots to tie former Ole Miss standout Ansu Sesay for the most in a single game as well as added 12 points, including a 3-point shot, and 11 rebounds to fall just short of his first triple-double. (February 8, 2011, Page 1B)
