Commodores blast Houston in playoff opener

Lafayette’s game against Houston on Friday night quickly turned into a tuneup for its next opponent in the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs. The Commodores rushed for 386 yards, kept Houston’s offense from doing much of anything and cruised to their sixth straight win with a 41-16 victory over the Hilltoppers at William L. Buford Stadium, earning a second- round home date with Cleveland, a 31-6 winner over Amory, this Friday. (November 9, 2014, Page 5B)
