8th-grade Chargers return to form
A week of intense practices following the only loss of the season paid off in a big way for the Oxford eighth-grade football team on Tuesday. A week after suffering a disappointing 14-12 loss to Lafayette, the Chargers blanked Grenada 36-0. OMS secures playoff seeding, sweeps LMS
Monday’s middle school version of the Crosstown Classic had more on the line than just rivalry pride.
When Lafayette and Oxford met on the baseball diamond at Edwin Moak Field, both the Chargers and Commodores had a more immediate reward in mind — playoff seeding.
After claiming both games Monday 4-0 and 6-2, the Chargers secured the top spot in the Tri-Lakes Conference with a perfect league record. (April 3, 2012, Page 9)
