Rebels show pro, cons in first scrimmage

Saturday’s scrimmage at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium provided a mixed bag of results for the Ole Miss coaching staff to build on.

There was the good: Randall Mackey showed consistency passing the ball, the defense provided a constant presence in the offensive backfield, the tight ends looked like reliable targets, head coach Houston Nutt said he liked the attitudes he saw from the defense and incumbent kicker Bryson Rose connected on all four field goals from 40 yards and beyond. Ole Miss football signs JUCO All-American Philander Moore

Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt announced Tuesday the signing of Blinn Community College’s Philander Moore to a national letter of intent.  He will enroll at Ole Miss in this month and begin competing for the Rebels in the 2011 season with three years of eligibility remaining.
