Oxford saw 18 restaurants doors close in 2010 which bucked the national trend of the industry actually improving from the past few years. (January 3, 2011, Page 1)
After 15 years of serving eclectic, but always delicious dishes, the Yocona In Exile restaurant — previously Yocona River Inn — will close its doors this weekend.
Yocona in Exile was opened in Abbeville after a fire in the spring of 2009 destroyed the original restaurant, Yocona River Inn. Osborn relocated her restaurant and renamed it when she reopened it a year ago in Abbeville. The new restaurant gave the downtown area of the tiny town a spark of new life. A new city hall and several new businesses are bringing a mini-boom to downtown Abbeville. Yocona in Exile and Abbeville Grill are giving the 450 citizens of the town north of Oxford a place to gather and eat. A $100,000 grant is allowing for a new city hall to be built by May, and in the meantime, city leaders want to continue enticing development. (March 1, 2010, Page 1)
