School bus safety a serious issue

Local school bus drivers have reported more incidents of vehicles passing stopped school buses. Our View looks at this serious issue and urges all drivers to pay attention to school traffic and, particularly, big yellow buses. (October 5, 2014, Page 4A)

Buses back, so drive safely

A new law that went into effect July 1, called “Nathan’s Law” allows for harsher penalties for those caught driving past a stopped school bus. The law is named after a 5-year-old Jones County boy who was killed when a driver ignored the flashing stop lights and passed the boy’s bus. (August 4, 2011, Page 1)
