Lady ‘Dores defeated by Lady Vikings in semifinals
NEW ALBANY — A chance for the Lafayette Lady Commodores basketball team to claim a second consecutive district tournament championship was sunk Thursday night by the North Pontotoc Lady Vikings.
A strong effort late in the game was not enough to overcome a sluggish start for the Lady ‘Dores at the New Albany Middle School Gym, as Lafayette fell 62-48 to the Lady Vikings in the semifinals of the Division 2-4A Tournament. (more…) (February 10, 2012, Page 7A)
Lady Commodores roll to 2-4A semifinals
NEW ALBANY — The Tunica-Rosa Fort Lady Lions found out real quick Tuesday what a fruitless endeavor it is to try and run with the Lafayette Lady Commodores.
After playing with Lafayette for five minutes in the first game of the Division 2-4A Tournament at the New Albany High gym, the Lady Commodores quickly put together 22 unanswered points en route to a 65-44 victory. (February 8, 2012, Page 7)
LHS grabs OT wins over Holly Springs
Lafayette girls basketball coach Amy Sutton didn’t expect to see her team playing an overtime session against Holly Springs on Tuesday in the LHS gym. Neither did Lafayette’s boys coach Nacoma James, who also saw his team play an extra period.

New Albany uses its size to take down Lafayette
Lafayette’s basketball teams found out first hand Tuesday night that size really does matter on the court.
New Albany post players Jazmine Spears and Moses Kingsley each played huge roles in their team’s Region 2-4A victories at Lafayette, with the Lady Bulldogs winning 47-31 in the opener and the Bulldogs pulling out a 42-36 win in the nightcap. (more…) (January 25, 2012, Page 6)
Oxford earns road wins over LHS
Tuesday’s nightcap involving the Oxford Chargers and Lafayette Commodores literally came down to one play. In a game that was as emotionally charged as any recent contest between Lafayette and Oxford on the basketball court, it was the Chargers who got the better of the Commodores in a 55-53 win in the LHS gym. ‘Dores hold off ‘Cats to earn first win
Lafayette’s most complete basketball game of the season ended up leading to the Commodores’ first win of the year Wednesday night in the “O” Town Showdown. Lady Commodores nip Bruce
A fast start and a good display of toughness late in the game proved to be the winning formula for the Lafayette Lady Commodores Tuesday night in the LHS gym.
LHS won its first game of the season with a 57-55 triumph over Bruce, a game that coach Amy Sutton said helped her team find their identity. (November 30, 2011, Page 9)
