St. John’s bounces Rebels from NCAAs

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — With the season on the line, No. 24 Ole Miss scored 16 runs against St. John’s in the elimination game of the Charlottesville Regional on Sunday.
Normally that would have gotten the job done and kept the Diamond Rebels alive in the NCAA Tournament.
The problem, however, was that not only did Ole Miss starter David Goforth and relief pitcher Trent Rothlin combine to surrender eight runs in the first inning, but the Red Storm was able to respond to Ole Miss’ scores throughout the game en route to a 20-16 victory at Davenport Field. (June 7, 2010, Page 1B)

Three Rebels excited about heading home

Sure the recently announced Charlottesville (Va.) Regional means a chance at revenge for most of the Ole Miss Diamond Rebels, but to three it has a little extra meaning.
The Rebels trip East will give Matt and Mike Snyder, as well as Matt Crouse, a chance to play in front of friends and family members, a chance most have not had considering the 12-plus hours that separate Virginia from Oxford. (June 2, 2010, Page 7)

Day 3: Auburn-Ole Miss Game Blog

HOOVER, Ala. — Ole Miss’ Zach Miller said on Monday he wanted the chance to play the Auburn Tigers at Regions Park during the Southeastern Conference. He’ll get his wish today. Following what’s hopefully a brief rain delay the Rebels will get their chance to get back at the Tigers. The game is being televised on SportsSouth. (more…) (May 28, 2010)

Diamond Rebs hoping change of scenery helps

The Ole Miss Rebel baseball team got a day off Sunday after getting swept by Auburn to end the regular season, and the coaching staff and players hope they will take a new approach, particularly at the plate, when they travel to Hoover, Ala., for the SEC Tournament that begins Wednesday. (May 25, 2010, Page 8)

Bianco wins 500th game as head coach

Mike Bianco picked up his 500th career win as a head coach and his 400th at the helm of the Ole Miss baseball program as the No. 15 Rebels defeated Arkansas State 5-2 on Wednesday night.

The win closed out the non-conference schedule for the Rebels (35-15 overall). Ole Miss went 20-6 outside of league play this season. (May 13, 2010, Page 1B)

Skyhawks no match for No. 16 Rebels

No late-game heroics were needed Wednesday night at Oxford-University Stadium.

The No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels took care of business early, scoring seven runs in the first three innings en route to a lopsided 15-6 victory over the UT-Martin Skyhawks. (April 29, 2010, Page 6)

McKean to take mound for Rebels

No. 21 Ole Miss will return to action tonight at home against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Rory McKean will make his second start on the mound for the Rebels, who will then travel to play No. 26 Kentucky to open Southeastern Conference play. (March 16, 2010, Page 6A)

Rebels overcome errors in win, again

One night after Ole Miss committed a season-high four errors, the fielding didn’t exactly improve. But once again, the No. 18 Rebels were able to overcome two errors to defeat the Austin Peay Governors 10-4 to sweep the two-game midweek series at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 11, 2010, Page 6A)

Yarbrough helps lead Rebels past Tigers

OLE MISS BASEBALL — At times during Ole Miss’ first seven games, freshman infielder Alex Yarbrough seemed like he couldn’t buy a hit. On Tuesday, Yarbrough looked like a seasoned veteran during No. 21 Ole Miss’ 7-2 victory against the Memphis Tigers at Oxford-University Stadium. (March 3, 2010, Page 8)

No. 24 Rebels get defensive in wins

OLE MISS BASEBALL — Ole Miss may have plated 28 runs this weekend, but the number that made coach Mike Bianco most proud was one — the number of errors the No. 24 Rebels committed in their three-game sweep of the Oakland (Mich.) Golden Grizzlies at Oxford-University Stadium. In three games, the Rebels knocked off Oakland 9-1, 10-2 and 9-3. (March 1, 2010, Page 8)
