SENATOBIA — A clean sweep. That’s what the Oxford seventh- and eighth-grade football teams earned Thursday with wins over Senatobia.
The seventh-grade Chargers started the doubleheader with a 30-14 win, while the eighth-grade Chargers won the nightcap 34-8. (September 23, 2011, Page 7A)
BATESVILLE — The Oxford Middle School football squads made quick work of South Panola on the road Thursday with the seventh-grade squad claiming a 20-8 victory, while the eighth-grade Chargers earned a 14-8 victory. (September 9, 2011, Page 9A)

Oxford Middle School’s Fall Football Fest turned out to be a positive for both the seventh and eighth graders on the field Saturday. Five other schools joined Oxford in the tournament held at Ole Miss’ Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Oxford’s middle school boys track team continued to shine Thursday at the annual OMS Track Invitational held at Bobby Holcomb Field. Six other schools competed against Oxford in the event, including Grenada, Pontotoc, New Albany, Senatobia, Hills Chapel, Marietta School and Guntown. The Chargers won the meet followed by Grenada. Both Oxford’s middle school football teams ended their respective seasons with losses to Senatobia Tuesday night. The seventh-grade Chargers lost 16-14, while the eighth-graders fell 14-8 in the nightcap.

Oxford’s two middle school football teams lost two close game to South Panola Tuesday. The seventh-grade lost 12-8 after leading a sizable portion of the game, while the eighth-grade fell 8-0 in the nightcap.
South Panola scored the game-winning touchdown with two minutes remaining in the contest. The Tigers first TD of the game was scored with a minute left in the first quarter. Oxford’s first offensive drive of the game was thwarted, while the Tigers’ second drive ended courtesy of an interception by Kylin Jones. (September 8, 2010, Page 9)
