Adamson’s consistent leadership paves season for Oxford

Oxford’s reversal of fortune on the gridiron this season was a result of many different players. Oxford makes timely plays to top Tigers

Big plays turned in on offense and defense made the difference again for the Oxford Chargers on Friday night at Bobby Holcomb Field. A week after defeating Class 6A Grenada at home, the Chargers topped Charleston 21-18 to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Oxford never trailed in the contest as it jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Charleston, which won last year’s MHSAA Class 3A state title and 15 consecutive games prior to Friday’s setback, made things interesting in the second half before Oxford’s offense, defense and special teams rose up to secure the victory. (August 27, 2012, Page 1B)
