Fast only partial describes the way the Oxford Lady Chargers looked and played in the first half of their 70-49 win over North Panola in their first game of the “O” Town Showdown Wednesday night. Oxford’s energy, merged with its fantastic full-court press on defense, was smothering to the Lady Cougars, who found themselves down 30 points (35-5) at end of the first quarter. Head coach Shayne Linzy doesn’t look at his Oxford Lady Chargers’ roster and see just five starters with a handful of role players.
Linzy, in his second year at Oxford since coming over from Water Valley, said he’s excited about how his roster has shaped up since the summer.
With Linzy’s high-tempo offense, in combination with a deep roster, don’t be surprised to see Oxford essentially using hockey-like line changes this season.
