Barber hurls another no-hitter in OHS’s lastest win

Jason Barber wasn’t perfect, but he was close enough. Oxford’s junior right-hander overwhelmed Saltillo’s lineup from the start, hurling a no-hitter and helping the Chargers (15-0, 3-0 Division 2-5A) keep their perfect record intact with a 10-0 victory in five innings at Edwin Moak Field on Monday. (March 31, 2015, Page 6)

BASEBALL PREVIEW: Talent makes Chargers an easy target

Oxford spent last season hunting the best team in its division. In an ironic twist, the Chargers may very well be the hunted in 2015. There’s an entire outfield to replace as well as some pieces in the infield off a team that went 26-10 and made a run to the Class 5A North Half championship series a season ago, but Oxford isn’t lacking for talent. With three verbal commitments to the Southeastern Conference school in its backyard and a handful of junior college signees on the roster, it’s no secret Oxford will be one of the state’s top teams once again. (February 27, 2015, Page 7)

OHS Chargers changing on the fly

Chris Baughman was thrown a looping curveball recently when senior Parker Adamson announced his decision to skip baseball season to focus on his future as a Southern Miss quarterback.

OHS, LHS teams clobber Cougars

Oxford and Lafayette jump started the round robin portion NEMCABB Tournament in a big way Thursday at Edwin Moak Field.

Lafayette defeated Oxford’s junior varsity squad 6-0 and then defeated South Pontotoc 11-1 in five innings.

Oxford’s varsity then up-ended South Pontotoc 10-0 to conclude Day 1 of the Oxford Regional. (June 22, 2012, Page 6A)

No. 1 seed OMS Chargers defeat South Panola

Led by the pitching of right-hander Houston Roth and an abundance of offense the Oxford Middle School Chargers rolled past the South Panola Tigers 11-2 on Thursday at Edwin Moak Field.

U13 Rays place third at NIT Tournament

The Oxford Rays 13-and-under traveling baseball team concluded its season recently with a third place finish at the June Jam USSSA NIT Tournament held at Southaven.

In the tournament, the Rays (16-11-2 overall) went 3-1 in the 14-team tournament and were eliminated in the semifinals.

The Rays claimed the first three games, defeating the Strike Zone Stixx 6-3, St. Louis Hawks 9-4 and DeSoto Cardinals 3-2, before falling to the Tupelo Rangers 6-1. (June 29, 2010, Page 9)
