Ole Miss left-hander Austin Wright has signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. Wright, an eighth-round draft pick earlier this month, was 5-4 with a 4.73 ERA this past season with the Rebels.
Wright joins fellow weekend starter Matt Crouse in the professional ranks. Crouse was a 24th-round draft pick of the Detroit Tigers who signed a professional contract earlier this month. (June 20, 2011, Page 9)
Tuesday was anything but quiet for the Ole Miss baseball team.
After evading the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft’s first 60 picks on Day 1, the Rebels weren’t so lucky on Tuesday as 12 current or future Rebels were selected during the next 28 rounds. (June 8, 2011, Page 6A)

When the media met with Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco two weeks ago he didn’t hide how important the next three days would be for the Diamond Rebels moving forward.
With Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Entry Draft kicking off tonight at 5, the next three days will go a long way in shaping the future of the Rebels. (June 6, 2011, Page 6)
