The Master Gardeners of Lafayette County, in association with the University Museum, presents the second lecture in the Spring Garden Lecture Series on Thursday. The lecture will begin at noon at the University Museum at University Avenue and Fifth Street.
The speaker for the second lecture, titled “Rose Are Red, Violets Are Blue: You Can, too, Grow Roses in Mississippi,” will be Dr. Pamela Collins, assistant professor of horticulture at Mississippi State University. Collins is specialty director of gardens at MSU where she is responsible for the Rose Garden. She will talk about the challenges of growing roses in Mississippi and will offer suggestions and insight on rose culture.
The series is free and open to the public. Bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy this informative lecture with other Oxford gardeners. (March 26, 2010)
