Lafayette’s Hamann makes history
CLINTON — The Lafayette girls, sparked by individual gold medalist Peyton Hamann and two others in the top six performers, claimed third place in the MHSAA Class 4A state cross-country meet held Saturday at Mississippi College’s Choctaw Trails.
The Oxford Chargers came in third in the Class 5A boys state cross-country meet, while the OHS girls and Lafayette boys each finished fourth in their team competitions. (more…) (November 12, 2012, Page 4B)
Kendricks proud of OHS’ showing at Invitational
Saturday’s Corinth Invitational proved to be more than successful for the Oxford High cross country team as not only did the junior varsity boys place first and the girls place third out of seven teams, but the varsity boys came in fourth while the girls came in sixth out of 19 teams. OHS cross country fares well at MC Invitational
Despite several runners being absent, the Oxford cross country team was still able to fare well at the Mississippi College Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
While the varsity boys placed ninth and the girls placed 11th, the junior varsity boys took fifth place and the JV girls placed eighth. (October 11, 2010, Page 3B)
Chargers, Lady Chargers place first in 2-5A meet
Oxford’s final push towards the Class 5A state track meet got off to a great start Thursday as both the girls and boys teams won the District 2-5A titles at Bobby Holcomb Field.
The Chargers totaled 135 points, almost 100 points more than second-place finisher West Point, to win their title while the Lady Chargers totaled 109 points. New Hope finished second in that portion of the meet with 54 points. Rounding out the girls scores were Saltillo (52) and West Point. Saltillo was third in the boys portion with 45 points, while New Hope totaled 19 points. The top four finishers in each event advance to the regional meet on May 1. (April 23, 2010, Page 7A)
