Temple leading new group of DBs
There was a point in time four years ago when Marcus Temple didn’t know if he would see much playing time in Ole Miss’ secondary. Coming from Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy as a walk-on, Temple was the “extra” guy on the roster that would likely help out more on special teams than in the defensive backfield.
That assessment of Temple’s potential contribution to the Rebels was underestimated thanks in large part to his desire to be much more than just a role player. (August 24, 2011, Page 9)
Letting go of the rope, making the (NFL) cut
Following Saturday’s debacle several of Ole Miss’ players attempted to explain the Rebels’ second-half collapse.
Running back Brandon Bolden may have said it best when he said, “Sometimes you just let go of the rope.”
At the half, the Rebels held a commanding 31-10 lead. Not only was the Ole Miss offense scoring almost at will, but the Rebel defense was thwarting its Football Championship Subdivision opponent’s best efforts to march down the field.

Freshman CB learning the ropes
The 2010 Grove Bowl was Charles Sawyer’s first opportunity to get meaningful game action since joining the Ole Miss Rebels.
After redshirting during the 2009 season, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback made the most of his debut to fans by pulling in two interceptions. (July 8, 2010, Page 2B)
McCluster now a Chief; four Rebels drafted overall
Four Ole Miss players were drafted between the second and sixth rounds of the 2010 NFL Draft over the weekend. Running back/wide receiver Dexter McCluster was the first Rebel selected in the annual draft as he went to the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round, No. 36 overall. Offensive lineman John Jerry followed McCluster as he was selected in the third round (No. 73) by the Miami Dolphins. Both McCluster and Jerry were taken on Friday.
Sawyer impresses during Grove Bowl
Headlines throughout the spring have repeatedly asked who will fill the shoes of quarterback Jevan Snead, running back Dexter McCluster and the three offensive linemen who have all graduated and are poised to play on the next level.
But one vacated position that has flown somewhat under the radar is that of cornerback.
With Marshay Green and Cassius Vaughn having graduated, the Rebels are faced with the tough task of replacing two experienced cornerbacks.
On Saturday, redshirt freshman Charles Sawyer showed Ole Miss fans and coaches alike why he might be the perfect guy to step up and start at cornerback opposite Jeremy McGee or Marcus Temple. (April 19, 2010, Page 2B)
Rebels ready to begin 2010 spring practice

OLE MISS FOOTBALL — The Ole Miss Rebels football team had several points of emphasis when looking at the 2010 recruiting class. Looking at the list of players, it appears Ole Miss addressed those needs, signing several offensive linemen, defensive linemen and defensive backs to replace graduated players.
