An early lead didn’t hold for the Lafayette Lady Commodores lost 49-47 to New Albany in the Division 2-4A Tournament Friday. Mykira Buford and Mariah Buford each scored 10 points in the loss. NEW ALBANY — A chance for the Lafayette Lady Commodores basketball team to claim a second consecutive district tournament championship was sunk Thursday night by the North Pontotoc Lady Vikings.
A strong effort late in the game was not enough to overcome a sluggish start for the Lady ‘Dores at the New Albany Middle School Gym, as Lafayette fell 62-48 to the Lady Vikings in the semifinals of the Division 2-4A Tournament. (more…) (February 10, 2012, Page 7A)
NEW ALBANY — The Tunica-Rosa Fort Lady Lions found out real quick Tuesday what a fruitless endeavor it is to try and run with the Lafayette Lady Commodores.
After playing with Lafayette for five minutes in the first game of the Division 2-4A Tournament at the New Albany High gym, the Lady Commodores quickly put together 22 unanswered points en route to a 65-44 victory. (February 8, 2012, Page 7)
Lafayette girls basketball coach Amy Sutton didn’t expect to see her team playing an overtime session against Holly Springs on Tuesday in the LHS gym. Neither did Lafayette’s boys coach Nacoma James, who also saw his team play an extra period.
