Rebels hold on to top Gamecocks

Saturday’s 66-62 win for the Ole Miss Rebels over South Carolina wasn’t the prettiest piece of basketball ever played at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum. Both teams combined for 31 turnovers and shot under 50 percent (although the Rebels were close to breaking even at 49 percent).

Both teams gained momentum only to let the other back into the game. In short, it was the most ugly — and at the same time exciting — game of the year for Ole Miss fans simply because of the outcome. (January 30, 2012, Page 1B)

Warren’s career night not enough to lift Rebs to win over Gamecocks

Darrin Horn has had to play many roles during South Carolina’s month of struggles. On Tuesday night, he got to play the one he enjoys most — winning coach.

Sam Muldrow had 23 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:02 left, as the Gamecocks ended a five-game losing streak with a 79-73 victory over Ole Miss. The win brought smiles and high-fives out of his players, something Horn hadn’t seen in a while. (February 23, 2011, Page 6)
