Lady Chargers roll in weekend matches

Oxford’s Lady Chargers ensured themselves a winning record and a spot in the upcoming MHSAA Class 5A playoffs with two one-sided wins over the weekend. A night after defeating West Point 9-0 to remain in a tie for first place in Division 2-5A play, the Lady Chargers defeated Horn Lake 8-1 in what could be their final home match of the season.

In order for Oxford (10-8 overall, 3-1 in division) to get a first-round playoff contest at home, West Point needs to score a goal on Saltillo. If not, coach Laura Flint needs to practice her coin flipping skills because that’s how the tiebreaker with Saltillo would be decided. Saltillo and West Point play each other Tuesday. Regardless of that outcome, the Lady Chargers met a goal that was more unclear at the start of the year. (January 14, 2013, Page 7)

Second-half letdown sinks Lady Chargers

The Oxford Lady Chargers had a wonderful chance Friday evening to open district play 2-0.
