Lady ‘Dores get past NE Jones in PKs to capture first-ever state title

MADISON — It took all of regulation, overtime, sudden death and a winning goal from an unlikely source during penalty kicks. In the end, the Lafayette High girls soccer team capped its historic postseason run with a 3-1 victory by way of penalty kicks over Northeast Jones to claim the MHSAA Class 4A state championship — the first in program history — Saturday afternoon at the Madison Central High School campus. (February 8, 2015, Page 1B)

Florence hands Lady ‘Dores first loss

Lafayette High’s girls soccer team knew it was going to be tested this weekend in the Oxford Showcase and that its perfect record could be in danger of falling. One of those tests came from the Florence Lady Eagles, who handed the Lady Commodores their first loss of the season by the score of 5-3 Saturday morning at FNC Park.
