QB Ash has career day in in Texas Longhorns’ rout

Defense was supposed to be the strength of the No. 14 Texas Longhorns, not the throwing of sophomore quarterback David Ash. For a quarterback who had only thrown for 377 yards the first two games combined, Ash turned in a career-best night by throwing for 326 yards and four touchdowns.

He connected on 15 straight passes during the game — which was three off the record held by Colt McCoy — and finished a blistering 19-for-23 overall.

Texas’ offense finished the game with 676 yards of total offense that also included 350 yards on the ground. (September 17, 2012, Page 1B)
