Ridgeland will be a test for Chargers
A tough division slate has seasoned the Oxford Chargers heading into the next stage of the MHSAA’s Class 5A playoffs. OHS coach Chris Baughman believes that nine games against teams from Division 2-5A have prepared his Chargers for what he believes will be the toughest test of the season.
Oxford opens its best-of-three series on the road at Ridgeland, the No. 1 seed from Division 4, Thursday evening. The Titans (20-6 overall) defeated the Chargers in last year’s 5A North Half title series and Baughman said they are just as potent on offense. (April 25, 2012, Page 6)

Oxford sophomore pitcher Hunter Roth didn’t realize just how important Friday night’s 5-1 win over West Point really was until after the game.
Sure, Roth knew it improved the Chargers’ record within Division 2-5A play, but the significance didn’t really hit him, or the other members of the team, until after OHS coach Chris Baughman got through talking with them. (April 9, 2012, Page 8)
