YAC’s Taylorpalooza re-loads this Saturday

OXFORD TOWN – YAC’s annual family picnic and membership drive, Taylorpalooza, cranks up this Saturday in the Plein Air Neighborhood in Taylor. Musical entertainment will include Love Cannon and The Okratones. The fun begins at 5 p.m. and will last until 8. Get Revived! The Oxford Rhythm Revival returns this weekend

OXFORD TOWN – Gear up for one of the coolest “revivals” in the region as the 2011 version of the Oxford Rhythm Revival cranks up around the Oxford Square this Saturday (June 18). Mississippi native Lynn Drury, Memphis legend rocker Keith Sykes, Shannon McNally, fiddle prodigy Ruby Jane (pictured), Gina Sexton, Marlena Jarjoura and Taylor Hildebrand are just of few of the names that will keep Oxford jumping this Saturday night. The fun begins on Saturday morning on the Courthouse lawn and continues until the last note is played at Proud Larry’s, Rooster’s Blues House and Soulshine Pizza at midnight. Cakewalkers featured on NYE in Taylor

OXFORD TOWN – Taylor hosts one of the hottest gigs going this Friday night (New Year’s Eve) as Tin Pan Alley and the Farmers’ Market present New Year’s Eve with The Cakewalkers. The Lisa Harrison Band, Chauncey and the Beast and Love Cannon will also be rocking in the New Year at Emileigh’s Table in the Plein Air Neighborhood. Lindsay Fine returns to the Taylor market

Sunset Series rolls on with the Swinging Prevaricators this Sunday

The Summer Sunset Series continues this Sunday (June 13) after a hugely successful opening performance by the Mississippians Jazz Combo last week in the Grove. YAC’s Oxford Songwriter’s Showcase had to cancel for this Sunday but the new band, The Swinging Prevaricators, is filling in. Former ICS employee wins suit

A former teacher, Mary Luster-Johnson, won her case against HeadStart and was awarded $750,000 by a local jury Friday. Luster-Johnson claimed she was fired for complaining about the director’s misuse of funds. Luster-Johnson, formerly second-in-command of the Oxford center, sued the Institute of Community Services Inc. of Holly Springs, which operates the HeadStart schools in Oxford and Holly Springs.
