Lafayette got off to a great start in the Class 4A playoffs Monday morning with a 6-1 win over Kosciusko on the road. Lafayette swept the doubles action to gain the match win, while Mallory Davis peformed well in her singles match. Davis defeated Jessica Reynolds 6-0, 6-2 to gain the victory for LHS. Kosciusko’s lone win came in boys singles as Patrick Adams defeated Nathan Hollis 6-1, 6-1. (more…) (April 24, 2012, Page 10)
Avent’s Park was surrounded by spectators Thursday afternoon as Lafayette and Oxford closed out their regular seasons with the annual tennis meeting between the two schools.
With both squads already a part of the Class 4A (LHS) and 5A (OHS) playoffs, Thursday’s match was about different things for each coach.
The Chargers defeated the Commodores 5-2 but the two wins were a marked improvement for Debbie Swindoll’s Commodores, who lost 7-0 to OHS last year.
Apart from the two wins, the No. 1 boys doubles match had to be decided with a tiebreaker, while two other doubles matches were also competitive. (April 13, 2012, Page 7A)
