Despite walking seven, and allowing two more Rhode Island batters to reach base via a HBP and an error, the Rebels rolled to an 8-1 victory Friday.

Sumrall tops WV to take series
Water Valley found out what all of Sumrall’s opponents have discovered this year as the Blue Devils dropped an 11-1 decision to the Bobcats in the second game in their Class 3A state baseball championship series at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Sumrall swept the series with WVHS to wins its third-straight state title, but Water Valley coach Doug Robbins said his ballclub had a special season in finishing second in the state for the second time in five seasons. Stats, record speak volumes for Sumrall legacy in Mississippi record books
It doesn’t take a long time to figure out that the Sumrall Bobcats are a very, very good team. The gaudy team stats speak for themselves while back-to-back Class 3A titles, a 33-1 overall record this season and a 67-game winning streak that ended earlier this season only add to the Bobcats’ resume.
