Oxford’s knack for playing its best basketball in the postseason and winning division tournament titles under coach Drew Tyler continued Friday night as the Chargers knocked off West Point 71-61. The win not only secured a 10th championship trophy for Tyler in his 14 years of coaching at OHS, it also ensured a home playoff game Tuesday against Clarksdale a year after the Chargers had to travel to Ridgeland. While it took the girls a quarter and a half to really get going during their 57-35 victory over the New Hope Lady Trojans in the first round of the District 2-5A Tournament, the Chargers took it to Saltillo from the opening tip and turned a 22-point halftime lead into a 75-39 victory.
